This video was recorded during measurements of a surface-piercing A-Class catamaran dagger board hydrofoil in the K27 cavitation tunnel of TU-Berlin. It shows the heavily disturbed free surface which was present during the measurements eventually causing very early ventilation inception on the foil and an offset in the effective immergence of the foil. The measurements were part of the work presented in “NUMERICAL SIMULATIONS OF A SURFACE PIERCING A-CLASS CATAMARAN HYDROFOIL AND COMPARISON AGAINST MODEL TESTS” at the Chesapeake Sailing Yacht Symposium 2016.
