I'm not expecting you to understand this reference, but being from Massachusetts, the Beach club is more north shore and the Yacht Club is more south shore. Beach club has a much more welcoming and accepting environment where I feel the need to dress in Vineyard Vines and Sperrys at the yacht club

When Michael Eisner was Disney's CEO, he always stayed in his suite at the Yacht Club (rather than the Grand Floridian!).

I'm dying to stay here! Probably the most of any WDW hotel for some reason

Off topic, I hope Pete is OK. He lost his train of thought twice that I saw. Take care of yourself Pete!

My family loves the Yacht Club over most of the other resorts at DisneyWorld. I agree with others that as a mother or father watching children play in the pool area, it is extremely difficult to keep track of children. There is no place to sit that allows you to keep your children in your eyesight at all times when they are actually using the pools, slides, or tubing area. So It can be very frustrating and not so relaxing as a parent. For the children it is fun, fun, fun in the sun. And don't get some of the parents going about the ducks swimming in the pool.
Others have given the Captains Grille a beating as well. I, like another reviewer, have always liked the Captains for breakfast and its okay even for a quick lunch, as long as your not expecting much. If nothing else, it is usually one of the restaurants that you can get a bite to eat at without a reservation. Avoid though for dinner. The Yachtsmans Steakhouse is always a good bet for dinner though unless of course your pocket book isn't up to it. The Crews Club Lounge is good for a night cap if you miss the alcohol being served on club level.
We usually stay club level and I have noticed that the club level rooms are often the most beat up. The hallways have torn wallpaper, scuffed walls and doorways, and always dishes on the floors outside of the rooms for hours on end on club level. The bathrooms are of issue mostly because of the position of the toilet and the door. I think if they made the door a pocket door it would be a better design.
My main complaint about the club level, and the hotel in general, doesn't have as much to do with the hotel as it does with the guests who stay there. So many business people staying here who seem annoyed that there were children in the hotel and especially up in the club lounge. Often, those who are on a business trips and going to conventions, take over the club lounge and main lounge if they are not in meetings. It can be near impossible to get a place to sit in the club lounge because the computers and briefcases are all out and open and people sit for hours at a time working and networking with one another.
Despite the bad I still like the hotel a lot because, as you mentioned in your podcast, it is a lot quieter at this hotel than at the other Deluxe resorts. I so need to have some quiet after being in the parks, on the buses, boats, monorail, and at the pool during the day. -
Unlike most people in the poll, I prefer the Yacht Club to the Beach Club. The dining is much better. I was surprised by the negativity thrown at the Captain's Grille. We like it for breakfast. We only ate there for dinner one time and it was not bad but not great. However, the breakfast menu is very nice. We don't take the buffet because there are some items on the main menu we particularly like.

Mom and I dined at the Captain's Grill and we had a wonderful meal there last year. I enjoyed the lobby and found it to be very relaxing and loved the view at night. I fell in love with the monkey lamp. The lighthouse is pretty lit up at night and the view of the Boardwalk and other resorts is beautiful in the evening with all the lights and the reflections off the water. The resort seems better suited to adults though rather than children/families with children. That is just how it felt to me. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here. We enjoyed the boat ride to and from the studios. I do wish they had some type of counter service restaurant though for the times you don't want a big sit down meal.

Craig, I want to adopt you!

My dad and I ate at the Yachts men's Steakhouse on our first night it was really good for $100 it's worth it.
-
I love the yacht club but I don't not like the dark Colors of the lobby. I wish it was more navy and white I think it would pop more and be so much more welcoming!!! Great review

Thanks for the tip about Captain's Grille. Immediately after I finished watching your podcast, I cancelled my June reservation
there, made because I wanted a restaurant excuse to visit the property and the Yachtsman Steakhouse was booked.
I tried Yachtsman again, and some spots had opened up.
Thanks, DIS, for saving me from a disastrous dinner! -
Great overview video!

I know JenniLynn rates places as a parent...well there is something that would have bothered me as a parent in regards to Stormalong Bay (and maybe this goes along with Kathy's comment about kids/parents at the pool from the other video). To get to the water slide, you have to go out of the pool area, onto the pedestrian walk-way (that anyone could walk on - and that day it was me...but who KNOWS who it could be) and climb up into Stormalong's boat. That is (1) well out of the view of those "minding" the pool and the kids, and (2) out of the "resort" and into the general public area as well.
As I was walking past, two kids - wet and screaming - tore out from a hidden walk way, knocking into (formerly) dry passers-by who were just strolling out on the boardwalk, and dashed into the boat (to climb the stairs and use the water slide).
As a mom, I don't want my kids out in the "general public", (on a sidewalk, amongst strangers, in their bathing suit, and out of my sight) when I THINK they are within the safe-area of an enclosed resort pool. It took any wanting to bring my family there in the future down quite a bit.
As a pedestrian enjoying a leisurely walk around the lake...being smacked into by unsupervised and dripping youngsters was both unexpected and unwanted. (It took the classiness of the area down MANY notches.) -
Another brilliant review, I know the 7 in 7 wore you down but is there any future plans to review Swan & Dolphin? I believe theres a general love for the resort from you guys but it would be awesome to hear your views in this format. Thanks for the show!
