i have 2 sizor jacks fore my bike (honda shadow 600) the harly jack didnt fit because of the oil filter

Like the vids and subbed. Why not get or make up a 6x4 or what ever size fits your bike and drill a hole in it for a bar or tube to rotate it? No need for the car jack. I did it once when I was younger and I've seen some YT vids with the same idea.

Hi, The best outcome that I have ever had was with Pats super plan (just google it) Without a doubt the most useful woodworking plans that I have ever used.

Del I purchased a pair of lowering blocks for my xl883 l ! Brand. baggerwerks 1" 2" or 3" I have no idea how they install ?? can you help me out 😟. Thanks. Crash 68.

For me I dont even have a car jack. That being said my cruiser is light, so my idea is to make a frame exactly the same, but also make a wooden ramp for the front wheel so I roll the bike forward, get a friend to slip the stand underneath and line it up so when the bike rolls back down off the ramp it sits itself and balances on the stand.

Thanks Delboy...I was nervous jacking up the bike but my stand fits perfect...one question: is is alright that the cast iron tube that holds the muffler pipes on is also sitting on the stand? I don't want a damage anything..

You made it look so easy sliding your sporty onto the wood stand. But I think you solved my question of inexpensive stands..I also have 4 inch low sporty and I'm gunna follow your directions and build a stand for winter storage of 2015...Thanks man.....😎

good one delboy, say hello to rodders and graddad

Hi Del, just want to start out by saying I'm a new Harley owner and you have made my life so much easier over the past two weeks. I had a question about how to get the front wheel up. What is the second piece for? Can I just scoot the bike back on the one piece? I guess I'm not understanding what the second piece is for. Thanks

Great video, wish I had seen this first!!

Hi Del.
Any idea why this does not work, it it faulty or is it me?

I like your ingenuity Del. but man, watching you put the bike on the stand you built made me cringe. I don't want to spend $200 on a lift, but I would never forgive myself if the bike fell over either! definitely seems like a 2 person job

have you ever thought about putting forward controls on you harley ?

Unless lumber in your neck of the woods is different than USA, that is not 6 inches tall. Nominal dimensions for a 2x4 is 1.5x3.5. 2x4 refers to the dimensions of the rough cut timber, which is then planed to the nominal dimensions. That stand is 5 inches tall. Anywho, great solution to a problem man have.

Well done as always! Any ideas on how to lift my Sportster Iron without the factory exhaust tube on it anymore? It is quite low and even my new low floor jack won't fit under it. Thanks!

Hi Del, bought a car jack so I could get the front wheel off the ground to check the headstock bearings and replace the fork seals (courtesy of your fork seal video) but had to give up jacking the bike as I couldn't get it steady. So I came to this video thinking I'd knock up a 50p cruiser stand, but the front cylinder header pipes run below the frame rails! So if I were to use this method, the bike would be sitting on the header pipes and not on the frame rails! How do you suggest I proceed to get this bastard off the floor. It's a Honda V45 Magna. Don't really want to plump for a motorcycle jack so what do you suggest?

Finally knocked one of these up & swapped my shocks out for Burlys. Well chuffed fairplay yer a great man for the tips. Appreciate it Cheers :)

Hi Paul, haha .. I know how you feel mate, I've almost lost count of the times I've almost lost Penny's Iron off the lift ...if you are working on a longer job, make sure you take it off the hydraulic and rest it on the metal lock and if you are gonna be mauling the bike around whilst working on it, then get some pull down load straps, or at least some rope, and tie it to the lift... if nothing else, it will stop the bastard falling on your phuqin' head lol!

Del!!!! Got meself one of those flash hydraulic lifts today and gottta admit the first time i used it i just about Eartha Kitt when it came to letting it down....me pride and joy tettering 10 inches off the ground and an unknown hydraulic supporting it.....Must have been funny as f@#k to watch.... i'm letting it down and peering over the seat to make sure the side stand is not going to fold in backwards..... But gotta admit its a great bit of kit ...have been using the 4x2 up till now

What I did with my Virago 750, (which I didnt have a centre stand at the time) was I got a normal car jack and put some relatively soft wood on top for the bike to rest on. (large surface area=less pressure). Once it was up, I got a friend to throw in some bricks to support it. It worked well for me.

Here is just a little 'How-To' on the best way to set your Harley or Cruiser bike upright for engine work, wheel removal or just winter storage, £1 worth of builders timber, some screws, and a bit of common sence can save you over £250 on a hydraulic lift. Enjoy.!
