That's the way to start a film...

Just finished watching it. Wonderful, wonderful music. Good work

Eric: I can only echo what others are saying. I saw the movie when it first came out 30 years ago, and it (and the music) has haunted me since. I couldn't find a recording of it. Great work! Although the movie is set in the post-Watergate, post-Vietnam early 80s, the dynamics that it depicts are just as present today. I think Jeff Bridges' work here tops anything else he ever did, not the least for its subtlety (as compared to, say, "Crazy Heart."). See also "Starman."

@ZoltarTheFeared Yeah - brilliant double feature. Both about the post-sixties malaise - but one tragedy, the other comedy. I love it when art-house cinemas compare and contrast like that. Another film the 'Big Lewbowski' seems to be alluding too is the Big Sleep - viz-a-viz rich family/ wayward daughter etc. Which, in a more non linear way, 'Lost Highway' by David Lynch is also channeling.

@32peartree I was just thinking about this this afternoon, though it had never occurred to me while watching CW about a year ago: Bridge's characters in both movies share a ton of similarities, though The Dude is ultimately a much more light-hearted character. Great double feature.

Is the Big Lewbowski an homage/pastiche to Cutters Way?
-
When I watched the film, like over 20 years ago, the music stayed with me. It was just hauntingly beautiful.

Very "David Lynch".

Great movie, fantastic score. Was a soundtrack album or CD ever made commercially available?
-
Fantastic score! And my favorite movie of all time. Thanks for your contribution!

This is the movie I played glass instruments on. Cutter's Way. The other musicians on the score were a musical saw player, an electric string quartet and an austrian zither player. The composer was oscar award-winner Jack Nitszche (One Flew Over The cuckoo's Nest) Eric Harry
