The sportbike posture is terrible for your spine though.
-
Wait until you get a little older and get carpel tunnel and golfer's elbow from riding around hunched over. You be back to standards or cruisers unless you have unlimited funds for medical procedures.
A sportbike isn't built like a torture rack to be a substitute for doing pushups. It's built like that to allow racers to tuck in and be very aerodynamic down long straights on race tracks. The pegs are also high to provide enormous ground clearance. Neither is a consideration to street riders with any sense.
Cruisers with too little travel can be just as medically unsound as on bumpy roads they'll beat your lower back mercilessly without your legs being able to absorb any shock.
Of course the best bike for long term comfort is a standard. Most of them can be fitted with some form of forward pegs to stretch out your legs from time to time. They also have decent suspension travel and can allow your legs to cushion some of the blow on bad roads. And if you're dying for exercise, you can just stick your butt in the air and push yourself up and down on the handlebars. -
I'm pretty sure sitting on a couch for 8 hours is more comfortable than exercising for 8 hours. lmao
-
So at 4:30 he says people think cruisers are for comfort and sports bikes are for speed, and he disagrees..... but then for the next 10 minutes goes on to explain how sport bikes make you exercise the whole time you are riding, rather than a cruiser that is like you are sitting on the couch. Sounds pretty comfortable to me to sit on the couch rather than exercise... maybe just me =)

I should have bought the cruiser I wanted instead of my 15' zx6r. Just how I feel after the fact.
-
there is actualy no "which to buy" i mean you know what you talk about and you got some good points but the best way is to go to a store, try to sitt on both and look for what you like best. dont forget, you will sometimes sitt there a few hours so it should be confortable.
-
Well I'm 62, I don't like cruisers, I'm on a sport-tourer , and I think M13 knows what he's talking about

lol, this author of the video is trolling, im gonna be a new rider, but i know guys who have been riding since they were like 5(mini dirt bikes etc) and 1) they all tell me cruisers are wayyy more comfortable, 2)and safer(not sure why but they say statistically sport bikes get in more accidents, hence more expensive to insure) and 3) if you want a workout, go hit the gym noobcakes, if your buying a 5-10k motorbike just to get exercise, your doing it wrong.
I went bike shopping tried like a dozen bikes and a cruiser is wayy more comfortable than a sport or even a super sport, almost like a your sitting on a couch while riding
I was told that even experienced riders cant ride sport bikes for an hour or hour and a half without taking a break, stopping or stretching their backs. -
there is no way a sports bike is equally uncomfortable as a cruiser, a sports bike specially the one with aggressive position is exponentially more uncomfortable.
I used to ride a gixer now Im on a vtx 1300 big difference -
I would personally rather own a cruiser. 1) Because it's what I learned to ride (same reason I would rather drive a pickup rather than a Ford Taurus) 2) I don't like sports vehicles altogether, so I wouldn't want a sportsbike anyway. I understand they have better maneuverability and acceleration, but I really don't need that huge acceleration, and i've been able to maneuver cruisers comfortably. 3) I've grown up to appreciate the style of a cruiser more. I'd say they're fair reasons for me to want a cruiser.

Is cruiser a nice term to describe an overweight, under powered, bad braking, bad handling, and slow bike?
-
This video could have been 1 minute long. Cruisers are not as comfortable as you do not have to lean. Sports bikes you do exercise. CHerry blossoms are cool.
-
You feel the road better lying down? What about standing on the footrests? For super slow manoevring i doubt your lying down will help you! Also I did my back in with a crouchy bike, it is terrible for causing sciatica! I don't think it's good exercise but thats just my take. i bicycle for exercise
