I sat on a cruiser at a motorcycle shop that felt like I was leaning back in an EZ-boy chair because the foot pegs were so far forward.
-
And why are you sharing with us your issues? We really don't care about your inabilities to quickly alter your riding styles between different styles of bike.
-
most supersports have their footpegs where the passenger footpegs on that bike are! The objective is to be able to lean like no cruiser or dual could. The only disadvantage, as far as I'm concerned is the lack of knee comfort You can stand on it as well but your upper body has to bend down in order to reach the clip-ons! I like it much more compared to the few cruisers I'd ridden before! Much more sporty and that's something I want a bike to feel like...not some fat lazy kid :D
-
Same here..got to be able to stand up when I want to.Maybe a lot has to do with what bike you learned on.My first bike was a 1971 200 yamaha street scrambler and I still like the duel sport feel. When I ride a cruiser it makes me feel that I am not in control.

Whatever it takes as we all say! Thanks for jumping in!!
-
Sounds like you have a workable solution!! Good on you! Just ride!!

Having arthritic knees, I find the forward floorboards on my bike let me stretch my legs a little. Making them more comfy for me. When my knees are bent for a long time they hurt. Down side is as you said, you can't raise up off the seat. My hemorrhoids therefore take the brunt of any big bumps. lol

I ride a Yamaha Stratoliner 09' with floor boards. My seat sits 27" off the ground and the bike has excellent balance and center of gravity is really low which makes it easy to handle. I might mention that I am disabled and have had both hips and knees replaced. Forward pegs don't cut it and sport bike pegs are to far in the rear to ride comfortably for any distance. As for having to stand...I don't. I ride with my vision far ahead and ride fast enough for the condition of the road.
-
I really do agree with that! Nothing better than standing up and letting the bike take the hits, and You just manage the bike! It is a love in itself!

I am really enjoying all these comments! This was not intended as a slam video, Just The difficulties I encounter when riding the different style bikes.

In the '70's I had dual sports and 'standards', always allowed you to stand up, then I went 20 years on cruisers with the forward pegs. in '99 got a R1100GS, and subsequently a R1100RT and K1200LT. Found that I could stand again, it renewed my love for riding. Increased comfort and control. I don't think I'll ever own another 'cruiser'. But I do lust after a Triumph Thruxton :-)
-
me neither!
-
I wouldn't ride if I had Floor boards!! LOL!!!!
-
you have got to be kidding lol daul sports you are suppoe to be able to stand up like you said but the cruiser its a cruiserfeet out in front of you cruising and if the streets are good like they should be you dont have to worry as much about bumps and the sport bikes are back to lessen the drag hell i wonder what would happen if you had floor boards like my bike has

I wished a thousand time when you guys were here last time, for both of you to take ALF for a spin and give a honest review. Maybe next time.
-
My bike is a sport bike but I think it's more of a sport tourer. When I see bumps ahead, I could stand up briefly if I wanted to but instead I sorta lift my ass which really helps! I might not have balls, but it still can hurt! :O
-
Looks like one complete miss for us!!
-
yeah i am not a huge fan of uber-forward controls... thats why I have a bike with mid controls.. but yes een mids are a bit more forward than a typical dual sport.. basically right under where my knees are when seated... but I can stand up on her.. although it does shift cg a bit forward

Yea, like Tom said. The TW is extremely stable the way it's set up. It's the ATV of two wheeled splendor 8-)
