Good video, with a good topic and illustrations and the comparison of boats based on fuel usage. Smackman, Thanks for producing this and sharing your travels and opinions.

Delighted to run across your videos this morning. Appreciated very much your remarks about Gerald and Pam Foy at the Hampstead boatyard. Terrific people. I live right around the corner from the boatyard, and have a been in and out several times. I live in Hampstead, and operated my Cape Dory 30 out of Bradley Creek in Wilmington/Wrightsville Beach. Envious of your 'vacation'. Remember well the 'no-seeums', black flies, Snow's Cut, Winyah Bay and coming in to Georgetown, SC, in sleet and fog.

I wonder, if you might have the phone number or address of the new owner of the Sylvia G. as I would like to inquire about purchasing her if he would consider selling her. I am a single sailor and the setup with starboard galley and port side bunk suites me just fine. I was considering converting my boat to that set up. I also like the unique look of her windows, which seem to be different that all the other 29/30's that I have seen. I can be reached at www.sailingwithbill@msn.com or 203-600-1115 just ask for Bill. Thanks for any help you can give me!

I just found you last night and enjoyed your presentation very much. It sounds like one of the smaller Catalac catamarans(the 8 & 9 meter)with the mast that lays down would work well for sailing the ICW. With twin small diesels, they'd be a pleasure to maneuver.
Another place that should interest you is the Alexander Archipelago in Alaska.(And BC) It's beautiful. -
I really enjoy your videos. Do you think the LOOP could be completed (mostly solo) in a Tartan 3500 sailboat (35 ' long with 5.5' draft)? Mast is 54 long. Could the mast be carried on deck or should I ship it?

How do you think a motorsailer like the Macgregor 26 would compare.
I sailed solo the same 533 mile stretch of the ICW, at the same time of year, in a Bristol 30 foot sailboat in 2013 and an Albin 27 foot motor cruiser in 2015 and compared the time and the fuel used. Both vessels were over 30 years old so the engines were run at modest revs which resulted in good fuel economy but still 70 mile plus daily runs on occasion. The voyage of the sailboat 'Sylvia G' is at https://youtu.be/6_he4_PdLRA The voyage of the cruiser 'Free State' is at https://youtu.be/ku2bcDhz29s Approximate daily mileage runs for both craft as follows - Day Sailboat Motor cruiser 1............71..............50 2 ...........53..............69 3............71..............72 4............51..............74 5............37..............52 6 ...........58..............69 7 ...........46..............32 8............35..............65 9............66..............45 10.........45
