Having bought the GoldWing, I now prefer the more upright riding position. My Cruiser/Shadow no longer feels comfortable and I notice my Hands going to "sleep" more as well. I have seriously been looking at the FJR1300 Sport Tour. The Wing will always be my Touring bike, would just love something different. Ya just gotta find a machine that works for you. Yeah me and Chris been dogging on some BBQ. Get on down to our Hood and we will show you the ropes of some good BBQ!!!! Good VLOG my friend!

For me it was sports bikes when I was younger and in a hurry all the time. Now since I'm old(er) I prefer my cruiser. Maybe I just enjoy the ride more now I don't know. It isn't fair that some vloggers post videos on good BBQ and then not share it with the rest of us. Now I'm hungry just thinking about it. Damn. Thanks and take care.

Prefer the riding position of a cruiser. Sat on a Honda VFR800 recently at a Motorcycle show, and felt leaning way forward with pressure, like you say on my wrists. Also knees and shins bent too far back. RSMF

This is a topic I always ask myself. You did a great job of talking about the two types.
How do you find out about taking test rides? Are those special events?
My bike has ABS and I do feel more secure on it, for sure.
For me, I want a bike that has it all. lol (typical female response). No but I want a sport tourer that is super comfortable like you have, easy to flick, all the gadgets I need, easy-pull clutch, easy to be on the throttle for hours, low COG. Right now, I've been riding the VFR a lot more and it does all that...the throttle is a bit tough to hold open for long periods of time, but I get used to it. I think if I could, I'd buy a newer VFR if I ever sold the Ninja or my current VFR. -
If I had it to do over I would get a bike with ABS however that has not been a deal breaker for me. I learned to control my brakes better and I have been lucky that I have not panicked in emergency situations. Also I would choose a cruiser again no doubt. I love having power and just not feeling like I ever have to use it. I just muddle along down the road nice and slow in comfort.

krazy kool, good blog. I'm Brooklyn born and raised, now living with in Tx. I enjoy you vids one because you ride a Victory, myself I have a Cross country tour, love it. Lots of great country rodes to ride here in the lone Star state. Always thought of doing my own vlogs, you have inspired me to get mine going. so from one Nyer to another peace and safe riding.

I think in the context of the sport bike your referencing one with the track handlebars. They have sport touring bikes that are very comfy.

I would destroy myself on a sport bike, plus I ride to relax not to defy the laws of physics. Saying that, sport bikes are fun.

If your mate listens to your advice he'll do ok, some experienced wise words there.
For me it'll always be cruisers. I've mentioned before that I'm not interested in speed, it's comfort and style for me. If and when I ever upgrade my ride, the top three on my tick list are ABS, fuel gauge and belt drive. Think I've narrowed it down to the two bikes I'm torn between that I would consider. There's pros and cons with both, If only I could make the one bike, taking bits from each, lol. ✊ -
Good advice .. road all types as well but now my old bones need to be shitting up straight and comfortable haha

If your buddy hasn't ridden in a while, buying a used bike to learn on--or at least refresh his riding skills--is an excellent idea. He could pick up an inexpensive sport bike, ride it for a year and then decide he wants a cruiser or something totally different. Ultimately, he'll have to make the decision on what type of bike he wants to ride. When I was young, I wanted something fast; I wasn't interested in comfort. Now that I'm an old man, comfort is the number one priority. Take care and ride safe!

Great advice about going out and trying several different bikes. At the end of the day, as long you're on twos, that's all that matters. Personally I love and enjoy all types of bikes.
