These trawlers need to be banned

Why is there no mention that the vessel is Dutch owned and crewed by Lithuanians. The product is caught by foreigners, processed by foreigners and sold to foreigners. So what benefit is there to Australians for having their public owned resources raped ?

F**k the large-scale fishing companies. There is more than enough food in the world, you greedy bastards.

Gerry Geen. You are a scum. Money grabbing sea destroying bastard.

So... We should all be ashamed for protesting against this super trawler because-
1. Gerry has an addiction to catching fish
2. They want more money for their business
3. Chip mill closed down in their home town
4. We made them sad
The public was apposed to the super trawler due to environmental concerns. The environmental arguments you have given are a couple of cartoons with no statistics... E.g. Cartoon at 12:49
Please just have a think about our environment and use your money to help conserve our ocean -
This youtube clip is a propaganda film for the super trawler. Here is updated information from Andrew Wilkie regarding the 'safety procedures' they talk about having in this film (now no longer there - surprise surprise!)

Fishing grounds worldwide are severely depleted, especially those of the northern hemisphere. The southern fishing grounds represent big dollars...operators of "super trawlers" won't give up trying to muscle in on these lucrative fishing grounds. These super trawlers need to be sunk and turned in dive wrecks.
In 2012, when the world's second largest factory trawler the MV Margiris steamed into our waters, the Australian public launched an Anti Super Trawler campaign that shook the foundation of Canberra and stopped the boat. This raised a number of questions: Why was this boat allowed into Australian waters? Was this legal? Was the science sound? Two filmmakers with a passion for ocean protection went searching for answers but they discovered was far from what they'd expected. Why should we care? With millions of dollars wasted and business confidence eroded, Seafish Tasmania is poised to bring another factory trawler into Australian waters. Despite their initial skepticism the filmmakers of Drawing The Line did a complete about-face when they researched the facts behind this story. The film blows the top off the Super Trawler debate, and tells a story the Australian media have refused to investigate -- how a country has been hoodwinked and the marine scientific community's findings ignored. Compelling material and a must watch for anyone wanting to take an informed stance on this debate.
