This captain waited too long to turn around his boat. After he finally did that he should put his bow into the current and "stem the tide" until the current settled down...or better yet...head back out to sea for a while and have a beer.

Americans feel insulated from what happens around the world and even fewer even understood what a tsunami was before the Thailand disaster. Most people cannot understand that something that happens 5K+ miles away can effect them.

Let me tell you, this is worst than an horror movie
-
looks like a 70 foot Nordhaven. Way more than 2 Mil. idiot captain from the looks of it.

I like the comments of the guys with the loose black shirts to hide their big fat bellies, and their wives thinking they know what the F they're talking about.Cap of the boat exhibited good skills but poor judgment in trying to dock in those conditions.

I can't conceive a 200k boat brand new that size . You live in China perhaps?
-
I am realistic go look it up for yourself if you don't believe me . it's a 75 foot Nordhavn. things cost more since the Titanic went down grandpa !!! it's a 4 million dollar fishing yacht .
-
Try 4 million
-
Yacht cost easy 4 and up who knows I would have to go over her specs but for sure it's up there.
-
I'm pretty sure that's closer to a $4 million yacht

Where was the "close" call? Is it the push toward the dock? I think not; the current was pushing him out and all he had to do was lighten up on the throttles and get pushed away from the other boats. He had at least a boat-length. He tested it at a safe distance and determined that he felt the conditions were too much for him to dock. Was it the piviot to port on his way out of the harbor? No way; he let the current sweep the aft end around and then gave the boat enough throttle to move across the current and back out to sea. He had more then enough room to work with and the large engines on a boat like that obviously had more then enough torque to push him across that current. Small craft maneuver in tight spaces like this all the time. The only difference here is that the abnormal current is forcing him to make corrections even faster and gave him a lot less reaction time. He handled it well. I have seen many accidents were small craft (60' and under) have hit other boats in conditions much less than this. The guy behind the wheel here was pretty darn good at what he did.

I think this guy has just woken from a 60 year old coma....
-
stay in deep water..pilot finally powered up and got into a deep water area..but was 25 feet from disaster.
-
captain did a great job all things considered
3m 6sLength
This two million plus yacht almost wipes out a row of boats and ended up into the harbor wall. Let's just say this guy needed a new pair of undershorts after this unwise attempt to enter the harbor during an active tsunami warning...
