did you see the fish jump at the 39 second mark

Let me now!

Very nice!

Thank you for this video, I am amazed at the ignorance of many of the commenters here. Where did they go to school and not know what a knot is? Bravo to you for the adventure.
-
It is called Hull Speed, and I suggest you go check it out on Wikipedia. The explanation I'm afraid will still be way over your head.

You guys are all FUNNY now this is 40 knots of wind! look at those waves they are HUGE! My question is how can you be only doing 14 knots of boat speed? Going downwind i would think you should be in the 20s ? I sail a 21ft cat i know this is totally different but i am just trying to understand the wind speed VS boat speed?
-
40kts of WIND!!!!...can't you read? f me.. I should post the video of me motoring my monohull in a T storm coming into harbour where there was 45kts winds... although I was only doing 3.5kts to some people I must have a faster boat than this cat!...(slaps head)
-
your an idiot read the description or at least the vid. title
-
Please tell me you are joking.
-
Are you drunk, or are you just using Google Translate? I did not sail 40 knots you dimwit, the wind was blowing 40 knots. I'd suggest holding off on commenting until you've completed elementary school.
-
like wtf is a knot We in the free world go by MPH
-
Ok .Go arround the world in your 35´ cat at your speed. Let us now if you did it within 80 days. With your speed you must succeed. within 23 days.. You get a effort on a Handicap, couse you cant sail a strait way. neverless you got 20 days to navicate the obstacles. So 23 days and a ad 20 day,s.. 43 day,s let me now.. Did you beat some? Or is the world to big for you. You got 43 day,s Let me now!
-
Yes Theo, I sailed my 35' catamaran AT 40 knots, not IN 40 knots of wind. That makes perfect sense. I swear, you don't really realize how stupid people are until you read YouTube comments. I mean honestly, you can't be that dumb can you?
-
40 knots?? So you outsaild the Maltese falcon. LOL Dream again.
-
I have some thousands miles in big cats and I agree with the rigth size foresail on their own, is just right as soon as the wind goes beyond 90 degrees. Adore cats¡ beating as a gaff does... with speed. Never found a big deal, neither in The Cape Good Hope area nor Caribben or SW Atlantic.

@bumfuzzle Now I'm convinced to circumnavigating by Cat. At first I was willing to purchase a Hallberg or Caliber for it because I thought to do it by Cat is little too risky. I've heard that the Cat is not good in climbing. How do you think of it? Good wind,

@flaming97 No, we found the main in strong winds to be a bit tough to deal with, and in fact the cat sailed just as well and just as fast without it in these conditions. Straight downwind like this all we needed was the jib.
-
Did you have the main up as well? reefed a couple of times?

Lawdy lawdy lawdy..... Bumfuzzle, complete props to you and your wife's adventure! I'm currently reading your blog and taking notes. Plan on taking myself and my fiancee on such an endeavor in a few years once things settle down with work. Thanks for posting!
