I am impressed with the captains optimism to drop anchor . Hopefully, never have to face something similar , can You recall depth and bottom structure ? ( just for reference ). THX
Amazing I'm happy I was not there its must have been anchored very well.

Auckland to Havelock got hit with 64kt (hurricane strength) winds so took shelter at Castle Point and the video is when at anchor. 80m of chain out fortunately held.
