This test would have been a little more accurate if every driver went to the same gas station a filled the tank with the same type of fuel. But good video man.

The question now becomes, after factoring in the cost of the additive that must be added to every tank of gas, even if the additive gets you an additional 1 mpg per tank of gas, is it work it?

Wondering what time of year the test was done. If it was between the months that states add ethanol to the gas that would be enough to generate that difference.

The avg is 1 mpg because that one guy with the nasty fuel injectors messed up the data.

thanks Chris. I'm curious how many miles the cars had we were testing. could there be a correlation with less miles on cars not having as much of an effect? i see the the age of the cars, but that doesn't always tell the amount of gunk inside. just a thought.

Im a huge fan and I would love to be a part of your test crew on my 2005 Acura MDX. But I live in Canada, If that's not an issue Than I would love nothing more to test it for you in the cold canadian winter :)

It's interesting, but there are still many variables left out, which could be influencing fuel economy.
1.
All those 23 cars, what were they doing prior to the test? Were they all daily drivers? Did some of them just sit around?
Suddenly driving more may change things in the engine.
2.
Fuel. Was it the exact same batch of fuel? Even if you went to the same fuel station, an hour prior, there could have been a delivery, with fresh fuel that may have been better or worse.
3.
Human factors. Even if you set the cruiser control, you know you have the additive, and it may influence your driving. You may want it to work, or not. More accurate would have been to not tell people they have an additive or not. (admittedly, that's not easy)
4.
23 is not a large sample. And these 23 are not at all as random as they appear, as they are all fans of your channel, probably DIYers and car enthusiasts.
5.
Use a program like SPSS to calculate if there is a correlation between say the amount of cylinders, miles driven year of the car. Maybe even brand. Maybe the Toyotas all benefited or only the Swedish cars, that sort of thing.
But still, it is a worthy video. -
