When eating meals snacks etc. calorie counting is so important. This way you keep tabs on how many calories you are eating and can control your weight

Sacha I don't mean to nag or lecture, it is just the OB nurse in me. what is really important at this point in your pregnancy is to drink lots and lots of water especially when you're feeling crampy. it's your body telling you that your dehydrated even if you don't feel as if you are. pregnant women at this stage tend to dehydrate easily. take some time to lie down on your side as well and get some rest. 😃

Love the colour of that Mazda. I think why you got it at such a good price is because of its mileage. It had been doing 30,000 a year before you got it.
The 1st boat you looked at that you thought might be 40' was at least a 70' er. 40' is quite a small boat. To let water in to the lock to equal the levels you don't "open a gate a bit," this would be impossible with the higher water level against the gate. There are sluice gates below the water line which you wind open with a windlass. The water you saw coming between the gates is just leakage.
To sail away and leave the gates open is bad practise and is frowned upon. (unless there is a boat waiting to enter from the opposite direction). What if the next boat comes from the same direction? They have to moor up & walk all the way forward and close those gates, drain the lock, then open the nearer gates.
