Don't miss this! It's an outstanding story of heart, teamwork and desire.

This is not a trailer for an actual movie... it's a high school project.

The PBS series "American Experience" will air an hour-long documentary on "The Boys in the Boat," the 1936 Washington rowing crew that won Olympic Gold, made famous by the best-selling book by Daniel James Brown. The Hollywood Reporter and USRowing both posted stories on the upcoming documentary, which will premiere Tuesday, Aug. 2, at 9:00 p.m. Set your DVR, but watch it live. Mighty are the men who wear the Purple and the Gold!

If this phenomenal story is going to be put on the screen, I hope they exclude some of the footage included in this trailer that depicts boats and equipment that is not from that era. Several shots in this trailer have current equipment, which is all composite, manufactured state-of-the-art oars and shells. If they're going to do this book justice (which it demands!), they need to make sure the boats, blades, equipment, etc. are true to the 1930's or the story will be drastically damaged in my opinion. Those of us who row(ed) and coached know the difference and any conscious viewer should too. Don't make such a basic mistake, people. Please. These heroes deserve better. This book deserves better. Don't screw it up.
