I understand your sentiment concerning the mount. The SeaView mounts used to come as a welded, single piece. This meant that there was a separate, stocked, part number for each different radar make and/or model. Separating the plate allowed them to standardize the mast, only having to produce one stocked part number, and then produce an interchangeable plate to adapt to a given radar. This would also allow the boat owner to update the radome, or change brands, only having to purchase a new adapter plate, instead of an entire mount. This makes good business sense to me. I do not know, off hand, what the price difference is, between the old one piece unit, and the new two piece unit.
This change should have been explained to you at the time of sale, and if it wasn't, than the sales person dropped the ball.
Keep making these great videos. I believe that I speak for many people when I say that YouTube is my primary source for how-to when I need to tackle an unfamiliar project. Your detailed videos are as helpful as they come.
