SANTEE - September 1, 2012 - A father and son on their way to go fishing in the San Diego bay will have to reschedule for another time. Just after 5am, while driving down Magnolia Avenue in Santee, the trailer unlocked itself from the tow ball and crashed in to a light pole and two trees. The trees were completely sheered off and uprooted and the light pole was knocked over. I spoke with the father off-camera and he was suprised at how little damage was done to the boat. He says after some cosmetic repairs, they'll be out on the bay again. I also asked the Millers Towing guys off-camera if they had ever towed a boat before, and they said that although they've towed smaller boats before, this is the biggest one they ever did. A Sheriff Sergeant on scene told me DUI and speed do not appear to be a factor.
