Hope to review one of these bad boys soon..... Looks a great bike and was great to watch your vids as always.... Ride Safe :)

how many electronic rider aids that they put in that bike?
-
Looks impressive. a pity about the distracting crappy music in the background :(

Go to Revzilla for product reviews as a matter of course. Just winged it on bike the bike rundown. I'm in the market for the Beemer and this test covered it all!
-
PS: Revzilla reviews are my faves!
Each of you does a top job though Lenny's insightful, yet totally down to earth reports are spot on.
Keep 'em coming!
(And the new Super Duke GT..?) -
The RS misses the mark as Sport-Tourer..
Obese for a sport bike. Cramped for any distance. Over all a miss on both main goals.
All that said, this is a truly feature-packed, amazingly well refined bike. Great power, yet not amazing. Amazing suspension. Great seating and controls. The S1000XR needs to be re-released in a comfortable-sport layout. That would smoke this segment!
Better bang for your buck is getting it's brother, R1200R/LC and add (aftermarket) windscreen, factory cases and have a better suited, more versatile bike. Lighter, more nimble converts quickly to a naked bike for spirited rides and back to a 'sporty-tourer' in an instant.
The R1200GS/LC is the Ford Explorer 4X of the bike world. Great but, over rated, and overkill for most owners who will see more dirt gathered on thier windscreen than ever under the tires. Though if you're a trend follower, a must-have. -
Great objective straight to the point honest review. Thanks.

Very impressive production values. Interesting how you're able to panic cross the bike yes it's driving down the road. I would've liked to have the on-screen narrator shut up for a while just so that we could hear the note of the bikes engine and exhaust.

have you guys tested the R1200R version? would love to hear your opinion on that

Well done quite useful!

Love it!

Fantastic review and great camera-work. :) Revzilla is also my favorite online retailer. :D I have a thing or two to learn about bike reviews from you guys! This bike seems like a solid sport-tourer.

I've been a big fan of the R1200R and RnineT for a few years now, though this one's recently stolen my affections. I'm not buying unfortunately, but man do I like this bike! Second time watching this review. :-] I'd have to go with the blue/white paint, and of course an Akrapović!

Why do most OEMs get it wrong ?!
It's way easier to read(more like glance) an analog Tach and a Digital Speedo than the setup on this BMW. -
So the only thing you'd change about the motorcycle is protection for the engine? Wow. Must be a great bike! Were you holding back? Too bad they didn't do as good of a job with their middleweight F800GT as they did with this... I guess it's due for a big refresher anyway.

I'm really surprised I don't see more motorcycles aimed at more flickable middleweight machines that have both performance and distance capabilities for those of us who want to live on a bike. At least I don't see them in attractive packages. I'm really a Ducati fan but I had a 3 series when I was 16 so that creates a big soft spot in my heart for BMW engineering. I'm looking forward to the G310R to get back into riding, though what I really want is a tricked out Monster 821 without the maintenance worry. I'm glad to see BMW is up'ing their style. I fall in a very uncomfortable motorcycle space... I'm not looking to get a lightweight bike to burn through and flip, nor am I ever looking for a big power machine. I want to ignite my passion for motorcycles while still being able to ride it almost everyday. I don't want a sport bike because it's not a track toy but I still want to really enjoy riding (although Panigale is lustful). I don't want a tourer, but I will be doing trips and commuting and grocery runs etc. I like nakeds like the Monster 821 but find they could use the option of windshields and some Givi action (love the visibility from the lights and Vololights mod). I'm also in my 20s so want something appropriate in attitude and pricing for that. I'm also not super experienced. I find a lot of sport bikes too overdone, naked too bare, and sport tourers too meh. I do however love modifying things with the appropriate help and like to get amazing foundations that I can morph into my perfect balance/no compromise machine. Side note: What in the world is the paint job styling on G310R? Juvenile hot rod much? I prefer Italian but if settling with German fixes it all then I can live with that. I didn't even look at this option on their site because the headlamp is so ugly I kept skimming over it but it really doesn't look that bad. Rider = 5'9" 140lbs 27 y/o with a lot of caution yet desire to have fun and live life exploring.

Beautifully made video. Thanks

just took a demo ride on the r1200rs and I gotta say I DID NOT like it at all. I'm coming off a f800gt and I swear that the f800 rides and handles better the 19,000 dollar r1200rs. my only real issue with the f800gt was and is that its under powered. But I'd take it over the 1200rs with no second thoughts. And I really enjoyed hitting my shin on the cylinder that boxer motor, the ugliest motor in the world.

Seems like a perfect balance of sport/tour but I wonder how leg room is... I'm kinda tall.
2016 BMW R1200RS Review http://www.revzilla.com/common-tread/bmw-r-1200-rs-review?utm_source=youtube.com&utm_medium=description&utm_campaign=2016_BMW_R1200RS&utm_term=dw1dYR36Gwg The BMW R1200RS greets 2016 like a petrol-powered phoenix rising from sport-touring ashes. Bridging the gap between sportbike performance and the long-range comforts of larger touring motorcycles, the R 1200 RS hits back at the naysayers of the sport-touring class, and it hits back hard. Too sport? Too touring? Too bad haters, it’s too busy carving up back roads and gobbling up miles to hear you anyway. In this full video review, Spurgeon and the RevZillaTV crew take to Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park to showcase what the BMW R 1200 RS is all about. Accompanied by an in-depth article in Common Tread, he outlines his likes, dislikes, and the lineage behind the R1200RS that make it what it is; one of the most interesting sport-touring motorcycles on the road.
