Whenever I throw a normal curve it's more like a 12-6 which is weird cause I don't know the grip for the 12-6
-
Whenever I throw a 4 seam, it moves like a 12-6 for some reason
-
The baseball coach are teaching the cutter. The boys have 11 and 12 years. I think they are too young for that pitch. What do you think? Regards.

Great job on this, John, thanks!

If you throw a cutter do you have to have long fingers
-
is it normal for a lefty to have a natural tail
-
My 4 seam has that natural cutter movement. I don't know what I do and I don't try to throw one but my fastball just moves like a cutter on its own. I just went with it and stuck with it as my main pitch and that was honestly the best decision I've ever made.

Thanks!

First, let's talk about how to grip a cutter. A cutter is a type of fastball that will move to the glove side of the pitcher. I prefer pitchers throw a natural cutter which is gripped on the horseshoe hanging down with only the middle finger on the lace. The pointer finger should not be on the laces. All you're trying to do is to get some good backspin on the ball with a very slight tilt or axis at your release point. This will help the baseball move in the direction that you want your cutter to go. For the 2 seam fastball, I like to grip it between the skinny part of the seams with my pointer and middle fingers together with my pointer finger hooked on the seam. This pitch should be thrown with a slight tilt or axis in the opposite direction as the cutter and will move arm side if thrown correctly. These two baseball grips for pitching are great to use together because they compliment each other very well. If you have a good 2 seam and a good cutter, you're a force to be reckoned with. 1:14 How to throw a 2 seam fastball 2:55 How to throw a Cutter I hope you liked this video about baseball grips for pitching.
