Bajaj is set to launch its latest cruiser, the near-400cc Dominar, in India in the coming weeks. Originally shown as the CS400 concept at the 2014 Auto Expo, the bike underwent a host of name changes – from the Pulsar CS400 to Kratos VS400 – before being announced to the country as the Dominar 400. Bajaj began producing the motorcycle last month with the launch scheduled for December 15 and deliveries in January 2017. The Dominar will feature the use of a familiar power plant, the 373cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder motor used by the KTM 390 series in the country. Bajaj though will be tuning the unit to meet the bike's requirements as a cruiser, so expect output to be lower than in the KTM family. While there is yet no word on the bike's output, expect it to develop in the region of 35hp. In terms of styling, the design will be quite similar to the concept shown in 2014 with the bike's muscular design elements and fairly squat stance seemingly inspired from Ducati’s power cruiser, the Diavel. The Dominar will come with telescopic forks instead of the USD forks first displayed on the concept bike. It will also now come with two-channel ABS as an option, though single-channel ABS is expected to be standard. The mid-capacity power cruiser is fitted with a freshly designed headlamp that adds to the whole look of the motorcycle. There will also be a fully-digital split speedometer, with one mounted on the handlebars, and the other on the tank, quite like the one seen on the Diavel. While the official prices for the bike will be revealed at its launch next week, we expect Bajaj to price its latest offering rather enticingly. Expect the price to be in the region of Rs 1.6 lakh (ex-showroom) The new Bajaj Dominar 400 has taken a long time coming in India. Bajaj Auto has finally revealed that the bike will launch in India on 15th December 2016. Once launched, the Bajaj Dominar 400 will become the most powerful and the fastest production bike to come from the stables of Bajaj.
