People have no idea of weight ,,,,, strength of chains and ropes ,,,,, stuff like that.. The water inside weighs more than the vehicle. It was amazing theyi got it as far as they did with a ski rope. It all would have worked too. Even if I was pulling that out with a wrecker I would have opened the back door as soon as it got about where the windows were out of the water. They were pulling about 10,000 lbs there with a 2,000 pound rope. . LOL

18 people don't believe anything like this could EVER happen to them...
-
Soon as wheels are out of the water.... open the doors and set the brake while re-hooking and letting the water out.
-
Maybe he shouldve let his wife drive DUMBASS
-
When the vehicle cleared the water They should have set the brake and shortened the rope. Especially since their was probably 1000 gallons of water trapped inside and the truck was heavier
-
Amazing
-
Where is hand brake? :D
-
hard to fee sorry for this moron, especially when it goes back in for the second time
-
heheh they just need to growup ,always put it on P ,when ever doing somework on the boat, funny people

This another examples where good old wooden wedges would have been invaluable : have someone ready to put them behind the tires as soon as the car is out of the water, then you could assess what's to be done immediately, double check if the gear is really in park, clear the car of excess weight … and then proceed. Here an $ 80 /100 000 car has been lost because it lacked 2 pieces of equipment worth $1 at the most.

Emergency brake?
-
chevy.. "runs deep"
-
dosent you foot have to be on the pedle
-
how dose that happen
-
Just need Yakety Sax playing.
-
First of all, ski ropes aren't rated to pull a 4000 vehicle uphill out of water with a trailer hooked on. Emergency brake or Park would have made a world of difference.
-
Well there is still the park position and most emergency brakes are cable operated. Prolly just slipped your mind before you posted this though...
-
lol well said
-
u need to drive a car through a river or go offroading mate... yes what u said is right, but for the first innitial press of the brake it would jam thoes wheels perfect. if u pumped it then ye u might get a water bubble in the lines. so get it right before u post ;)

y would u not put the hand break on once u got it out the water? instead u just stand their like a twat and watch the car roll in again... dumb fukkers!
Copyright © 2011 GotYourGear LLC All Rights Reserved Terrible day at the Lake. Chevy Tahoe goes into lake. The audio says the car was left in reverse. That was said on the spot before I knew the details. Tahoe owner said the truck was in park. Video starts with the Tahoe coming out the first time. A nice passerby hooks up a ski rope and a tow strap to pull him out. As soon as it is pulled out the rope breaks and it goes right back in as seen at 1:10 in the video. It made for a crappy day for this fellow and his wife. Thank goodness the family wasn't in the car and nobody was seriously hurt. The guy who owns the Tahoe was treated for hypothermia. The Chevy Tahoe was totalled, as you can guess. Be careful out there. Update: Please be nice with your comments. It was an unfortunate accident for the family.
