Hi, that's my grandad Dodd Milne fixing creels about 2 mins in.

Good video. I was the auctioneer for a lot of the fish taken to Aberdeen Market by David Whyte (D.E.W. (Fish) Ltd). Great to see a reminder of some of the boats involved. Sad how the industry has deteriorated over the years! Spotted a few faces I knew, mainly the same as everyone else that John (Ferg) Ferguson was the auctioneer.

I was working on the Ajax AH 96 bout that time best job in the world when it was all going well

I grew up on the Isle of Anglesey, my Dad was a fisherman aboard a Scottish wooden boat 'Robert Scott' Buckie. I studied boat building in Lowestoft from 93-95 and in that short time the harbour went from full to almost nothing, it was very sad to see so many boats including the 'ripley queen' being decommissioned due to some bureaucratic nonsense! at least steel could be recycled but those wooden boats were useless for anything other than firewood, a total waste of skill, trees and many men's pride.

my twin mates dad had "the Guiding star", many a time we spent polishing that engine...good times. Morag! You must be related to Pamela, best Tom-Boy ever, and a good pal of mine in the early 70's

Great Video. my dad had the sincerity (Alex Smith) and i remember as a child going down to the shed and watching Johnny Ferg selling fish and not understanding a word he was saying! Its very sad to see the harbour the way it is now.

What a sad looking harbour compared to what it was like in the 50's and 60's. So few boats in the 80's, small fish and a quiet fish auction. I can remember when you couldn't get into the auction shed for the mob of buyers and the amount of boxes. Heck, I can remember when there wasn't an auction shed!!.....Guess times change, but looks like the North Sea fishery will never be the same at Arbroath.

This is how I remember the Harbour from my days as a bairn. Good stuff.

The harbour at Arbroath, Angus, Scotland fimed 30 years ago in 1982 when locally based fishing vessels still plied their trade. My video shows some of the boats unloading their catch and the fish being auctioned off on the quayside. Scenes never to be seen again.
Many thanks
