Not to put a too fine of a point on it, but the guys with Poles, + riding Rossi's would be, IMHO, almost Monoskiers. That said, the definition, then, had yet to be accepted. I , personally, was always a 'Rider', and didn't put hardboots to good use until 1988, and even then, didn't use them regularly until 1991. Gordon Robbins (at Okemo, then my boss) showed me how they could work, teaching/racing, while Dana and Damien showed how they could drop cliffs; Yup, Sold on the potential at that point! I kept 'Softboots' around, usually 2-4 pair a season to be sure I could still 'tweak' (ahem, within what my Chiro said I could do- Damn, old @ 25 yrs on!). So this video is a good reminder of where we were in the day, showing off the soft-snow riding potential we who rode, knew, was better than Skiing! Surfing on soft snow was the first attraction; then, Carving on Hardpack, then doing Airs on banked features [then pipes, jibbing and bank slalom!] similar to what skateboarding/surfing could do! By the early 90's, we had it figured, but, then, had to get the Ski areas to groove on it, too! Thank the Lord it all worked out! I'm Stoked, 35 years on!!! "PSR"

@psychedeliccheese i've skiied powder on two skiis, mono and rodea salomon 165cm. in utah powder they all were different but kickass that day. did more walking with snowboard than other 2 combined. be open minded c uz it is all about enjoy what today brings cuz believe me you never know what tomorrow brings. BTW my favorite ride was snowboard. p.s. rode mono in late 80's when most resorts banned snowboards
-
@mrad907 yeah you have the powder lean back of skis cause you have to work so hard to get that fat ass tail in the snow and then if you slow down or bury the nose your totally fucked and have to click out and walk out there fuckin stupid why dont you ride a 166 malolo in pow and tell me you still love mono douching
-
@psychedeliccheese ride one on soft snow or 2ft of powder than tell me how much sense they make.it appears you have never ridden one. so sorry your loss
