Imagine 50 state trying to come up with the optimum education program to create honest hardworking , innovative , creative citizens that will increase the value and employment of that state. This would be brilliant. And I believe that this was part of the thinking of our founders. Individuality brought about by freedom and competition between states to optimize the vision of each state. I marvel at the forethought of our founders. We are free but not with the department of education. Can you see it??? Let's go back to the original cabinet post, doing away with all the new ones. Think about the money we would save. and let us drop the supreme cout justices by 2 in total and start with Ginsberg. and the next . how about and let's stare Roberts down.
Your thoughts are welcome. -
53 years ago I actually went to one of the last, little red school houses. It was really 2 rooms, one room for K through 3rd grade, the other 4th through 6th. We sat rows according to grade. Kindergarteners heard what 3rd graders were being taught. Students were moved to different rows according to their level. I got to be a good reader so I was moved from the 1st grade row to the 3rd grade row when it was time for reading class. I got to ring the school bell one morning, pulled on the rope and when the bell got moving I was lifted off the floor. I think common core keeps students in their row.

I googled the Bullitt County school test ...... shudder
-
I looked up the test. Most university students won't pass it. That was a VERY HIGH standard. So what happened?
-
Look up that test he's talking about; that's somethin' else. I doubt most kids my age would pass it.

Common sense has been replaced with common core. I dream of a world without control freaks who design crap like that and Obamacare to shove down our throats at the point of a gun. Bill Whittle for President!

I'm from Minnesota and we have some of the best public education system in the state. Thanks be to God we don't have common core, our teachers are able to teach multiple and depth topics to a very high degree that have basically set us up for perfect transition to college education. In fact my first year of undergrad was very repetitive of several high school classes I took.

He missed something:
Hunter/gatherer economy: get me from one day to the next; Government structure: a chief, Government job: lead the hunters looking for dinner
ancient-medieval: conquest economy- get rich by taking other people's stuff Government structure: feudalism, Government function: raise an army to go kill the other guy and take their stuff
Internet entertainment economy: waste time: Government structure: Obama, function: to waste your time -
The federal government just has too much power. In my opinion, power needs to be given back to the states, those things that the Constitution does not grant explicitly to the Feds, namely the FCC and the Department of Education among others.

Common Core is simply the logical conclusions of all the bad practices in public education, all the mediocrity and inefficiency, coming to fruition. I see some liberals in the comments here asking where Bill Whittle was when NCLB was just being signed into law. Well NCLB certainly wasn't a good program either. Both Democrats and Republicans were on board with it when it was started and now both Democrats and Republicans should bear the responsibility for all of the many things that went wrong with it. But of the two, you should notice that now only the Democrats are taken the extra step of taking all the philosophies that made NCLB such a disaster and amplifying them in a new program.

The Common Core worksheet for teaching the mathematical distributive property is entitled "Distribute the Wealth".
I am not fucking joking. You can look it up right now. It's horrifying. -
Did Ayn Rand come back to life and write this? Individualized attention? In public education? If you continuously cut taxes on the highest wage earners - guess what? You won't have the money to pay for quality people in the public education system. To say nothing of books, computers, and other materials. And by the way? The conversatives "No Child Left Behind" Act is at the root of this; not common core. Then again, actually read the NCLB Act. It reads more like No Corproation Left Behind.

I love the Simpsons reference.

SAT question: education is to the Common Core System as healthcare is to ______________. If you answered Obamacare, you'd be right. The Common Core is a massive power grab to the federal bureaucracy, and just furthers liberals' plans of indoctrination. Join Bill Whittle in this edition of Afterburner to learn why.
