What are you guys are going to do about mailbox money?
-
I hope your budget is showing at least 30% over the purchase for upgrades and repairs. Also, ensure you discuss insurance before negotiating a loan.

hi gusy 😆 how much money do you won't to spend for boat?
-
As you know, catamarans have the advantage of not heeling and lots of room, But they do not go upwind very well, and if you do not want to depend on the engines, you do a lot of upwind sailing. My question - have you compared cats with dagger boards, etc. vs cats with fixed keels? I have heard that a cat with rotating mast and boards will go upwind 10 degrees more into the apparent wind than a similar cat with keels. Is that true?

Ha ha, we stayed in Pilot nc, very nice town

I thought you were getting a monohaul from previous videos?

Honestly out of all the channels I am subscribed you two are most likely to be successful. You two seems smart, genuine, and capable of achieving your goals. Thanks for sharing more of your background.
I will toss out an opinion (others may disagree), which is that for the large purchase of a boat as an unmarried couple you list all ownership and loan paperwork in one of your names instead of both. In the event that some disaster occurs that you need to walk away from the boat you would potentially only impact the credit/assets of one of you. You would still be able to recover on the other of your credit/assets as long as you keep a proper division line.
You should create a subchannel devoted to writing custom software to make sailing more useful. Specifically, you need to setup a Raspberry Pi that is scripted to automatically upload videos from a specific folder to YouTube, set private, when connected to a slow wifi connection. Toss on a USB battery pack so you can leave it overnight at the location. Send a text message to your phone when the upload is done and have the Raspberry Pi shutdown. Retrieve when you get a chance. Gone with the Wynns seem forever stuck leaving laptops and other equipment in bars to upload. -
I think the tricky bit for you guys will be when you have saved enough for a monohull, but not enough for a catamaran. Will you carry on saving, or will you take the leap? Your 'impatience' might get the better of you. Good plan, good luck.

good work me an my partner are doing the same thing looking forward to your story great work
-
great job guys... love the channel... question.... do you plan on doing your coding/dental work in places you visit for extended periods?
-
I just want to share some words of encouragement. You guys are much more informed than I was when I took the plunge and bought my first cat. If I could do it over I might have waited longer, saved more, and bought one needing less work. But what I learned as a result will only help me with my next "informed" purchase. Either way you go, it'll be the most rewarding experience. Cheers!

Thanks for sharing your plans and backgrounds. I have collected a bunch of links about boat buying that may be of use for your research www.adventuresonboats.com/buying-a-boat.html. I also prefer cats and have collected links about cats also. I think that your sharing about your preparations pre-boat is not only interesting but also useful to others who want to follow in your footsteps. What other things have you been learning? Obviously sailing, vlogging and blogging and photography. Suba? Diesel mechanics? Fiberglassing? Sewing? Ham radio? Fishing and cleaning fish? Just curious.

BTW - Megan 9on the Venture Lives channel (www.youtube.com/channel/UCtSrKgl6--BJsg8lkNATUlg) is also a dental hygienist and a very good photographer -
Why are you considering your boat purchase in the EU - are you looking to leverage the weak euro? If you buy in the EU will you de-register there and re-register in the US?

Average CAT cost around $250k upwards. What's your budget is?. Try to negotiate and get newyer model so you have less maintenance cost.
