scary!!!!!!
-
Look on the bright side not all the boat's went over
-
A little bit more wind than in Hamburg :)
-
The first three were pitchpoling, not capsizing.. You would think that someone doing commentary for a catamaran race would know this, but nooooooooo.
-
And people say sailing isnt a sport
-
Yes :D
-
This is really a history capsize, the one who broke his mast
-
you can't reef a ribbed sail, the sails on these boats are nearly solid.
-
IT IS ACTUALLY FUN..
-
@Tim Dunn, they use stormsails, and you can clearly see thet they have reefed the sail as much as they have to, they dont want to ruin their chance to win one of the worlds biggest sailing races by reefing the sails so much that rthey shurely will loose. The name of the race is extreme sailing series tho, and its called so for a reason. Who is the idiot now?
-
BAHAHAHA the last shot was priceless :)
-
wouldn't be surprised if that dude broke something when he hit the mast hard enough to snap it.
-
I still have a scar on my leg from tipping a cat over when I was 15
-
I'd prefer a blowover in a single hull any time over a cat.
-
If you crash with a smaller cat it's probably more pain
-
china coast water eewww
-
crash... and burn.
-
They don't use these in the AC they use AC45s and AC72s. These are Extreme 40s. Much milder.
-
And i thought pitchpolling in a hobie 16 was bad.....
-
most likely for downwind sailing when they are not necessary to keep the boat going straight they pull them up to reduce drag and therefore make the boat go faster

Day 3, never in four years of the Extreme Sailing Series has there been so much drama in one day. In almost unprecedented heavy weather sailing conditions in Qingdao, the public witnessed some extraordinary adrenalin fueled 'stadium' racing...4 catamaran capsized including Oman Air and a major crash occured.
