Eclipse Valued at $800 million, and until earlier this year the biggest private yacht on the sea at 162.5m long, Eclipse is pretty much as good as it gets when it comes to superyacht luxury. She boasts an armour-plated master suite, two swimming pools, two heli-pads, a hall and a cinema, along with a mini-submarine and its own missile defence system and modern light technology to block any attempts at photography. Owned by Chelsea FC’s owner and 12th richest Russian Roman Abramovic, it requires approximately 70 crew members to operate the yacht and serve its guests. 2. Al Said Owned by the Sultan of Oman, with accommodation for up to 70 guests, this was the world’s second largest yacht upon construction. Built from an aluminium super-structure, it can reach up to 25 knots. Al Said features an indoor concert hall large enough to accommodate a 50 piece orchestra, and whilst there are believed to be no photos of the interior we’d say that this fact speaks for itself when it comes to the scale of luxury on board. 3. Alfa Nero Along with a movie theatre, helipad, gym and infinity pool, this Dutch built yacht can accommodate 12 guests in the highest luxury. Alfa Nero is owned by Academy Award winning director, screenwriter and producer Steven Spielberg, this superyacht offers an opulent private owners cabin, as well as a private owner’s deck for those times when being in the middle of the ocean simply doesn’t provide enough peace and quiet. 4. Dubai Known by several names in the past (it was originally commissioned as the Golden Star by the Prince of Brunei), the appropriately named Dubai is now owned by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, ruler of Dubai and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates. Described as a floating city, it can host 115 people. Guests will be treated to pools, hot tubs, a spa, an open glass staircase and a helipad, all in the utmost luxury. Most of the deck is actually enclosed and air-conditioned against the middle-eastern heat. 5. Superyacht A Despite being worth $323 million, Russian billionaire Andrei Melchenko’s Superyacht A is unusually small (in superyacht terms that is). But the 14 guests that it can house are treated to every modern comfort imaginable, with three swimming pools (all with an opposing current to swim against), two additional boats, and all the latest technology and entertainment systems. Its unique exterior looks worthy of any modern Bond villain. Its owner however is merely a Russian industrialist with a net worth of $9 billion and businesses in the fields of fertiliser and coal.
