im wondering not just the fuel but how many gallons does this boat hold , dam .

I read a heck of an interesting article in Popular Mechanics (I think) many years ago. It was about multiple engines being faster. It depends a lot on varioius factors. For instance, if you have 250 on a big boat and it's underpowered, of course two engines is going to be faster.
Also, if you are pulling 6 water skiers in a Florida water show, 2 or 3 engines might be faster.
But basically, if you get a boat up on plane and trimmed out ... 2 engines has actually been shown to be slower than one engine. This is very very complicated because it's hard to make all things equal. Screw pitch, hp rating of the boat, Etc.
The main problem of getting SPEED out of multiples is synchorizing them. The slower engine will actually slow down the faster engine. And we are talking like a 50 to 100 rpms here.
I have no idea what size boat these 5 engines are on. It must be pretty big to put 5 of those bad boys on the transom!
There are a couple advantages of multiple engines:
1) Safety. You are out at sea and you don't want to put your life in one motor.
2) Dig. 2 or 3 will give you more dig pulling up skiers. They will dig better running up stream in a current. Etc.
This is a wild guess, but I bet the boat in the video would be just as fast if you took about 3 of those motors off the boat! -
I like inboard engine there is more fun with them.
-
wonder how many gallons per mile this thing gets?
-
Could've had a good inboard engine for much less.

Unless coupled to a single shaft, five outboard motors are useless because the number of revs of the prop are the same as a boat with only one motor of the same type, the only difference being that there is less slip in the former.

Doesn't sound like they are at full throttle to me...... Whose to say they are?

Don't they sell MAN or CAT diesels in these countries? Two V10 or V12 900 to 1100 hp diesel engines would power this thing with the same speed and burn half the fuel. Maybe they are simply too expensive or too complicated to maintain in this countries.

What waste of motors just because you have more motors doesn't mean you will go faster
-
yamaha the best motor
-
Must be so cheap to buy them outboards n amazingly cheap to Run what is the point when u need a mortgage to run them?
-
Just white water, What a waste of gas just get a row boat.
-
Stupid what's the point???
-
Next stop: Petrol station kkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
-
5x0=0 lol
-
it only appears to be going 30 maybe 40 miles an hour that doesn't seem like a fast boat not with 5 motors
-
Actually it would be more efficient flying

This is the view from the stern of the boat. The motors are Mercury OptiMax 225's, though this boat used to run 250's. A heap of HP and weight hanging off the transom. For any petrol heads out there the sound of these motors in unison is awesome.
