I cannot wear mismatched socks either. I have a home full of guys and they can! BTW...I just adore you 😌

These are such good tips! But, although I am a huge fan of the Color Catchers (I buy in bulk), please BE WARNED that they are not perfect, and if your wash item is dark red / blue / black (esp. cheaper things, like my sheets from Ikea), they will bleed that dye mercilessly! A Color Catcher will not prevent lighter clothes from absorbing some of it. While your red sweatshirt didn't bleed onto the white clothes, I noticed your CC was practically white when you were done. Mine sometimes come out super dark, which lets me know they work, but still, just a "head's up" for your fans from one who now has some pale pink items...!

You are the best❤️

For kids socks, buy them white by the dozen, that way they'll always have a mate.

I use no fabric softener because my husband wears lots of moisture-wicking clothing and softener ruins the wicking capacity of those types of clothing. i do use white vinegar in my rinse and it works pretty well and doesn't smell like vinegar after washing. I love the dry erase marker tip.

But these days it's fashionable to wear miss-matched socks :-)

Why did you put your color catcher in the mesh bag? I have an HE front loader and I never do that. I also re-use the color catchers at least twice. :)

I just started a new laundry system last weekend. So far, it's working great! I used an old change table, and bought each family member a small laundry basket from the dollar store. They have some new ones that are much sturdier than the ones I bought before. So each family member has their own slot on the change table, labeled with their name, where the basket goes. I have an extra basket for when I take the clothing out of the dryer (takes half of a full load), then I fold it right out of the dryer, and place it in each person's basket.
When the basket I'm using is empty, I put all the folded towels or dish cloths in it, and take it upstairs. Each family member is responsible for their own laundry basket and putting their clothes away (except for our youngest who is only two, but he is learning). The kids love it so far, and even my husband put his clothing away! Yay! success! They were eager to do it each time, and even brought their basket back downstairs without being asked!
No more hauling big heavy laundry baskets back up the stairs and dumping them on the couch or bed to fold. So easy, it takes no time at all, gives me a few moments to myself in the basement, and the laundry is wrinkle free most of the time!
As for stains, I use washing soda, sprinkling it on the clothing, and then spraying it with hydrogen peroxide. Works amazing even on colors. I've tried all kinds of stain removers but this one is the best so far. Removed old stains that were on the clothing for months and months. I make my own laundry detergent because I can't handle chemicals, and I don' t use fabric softener. Never see a need for it anymore. If I want, I add some vinegar to the rinse cycle. -
Oh my mom used to the the sponge in fabric softener! I just use those plastic spiky balls (4 of them) instead of any fabric softener and they seem to work fine. They are a bit louder though.

Put a tennis ball in your dryer and its chemical free and does what fabric softener or dryer sheets do.
-
I heard on another Youtube video that you should not wash towels with other laundry because the fibers of the towels cause pilling to the clothes. Anyone else had that experience?
-
I have the same laundry cart but it's white. Did you paint yours? Great idea!
-
i live in new zealand and i mix all my washing and they still come out ok & i never use dryer sheets.
-
I've been doing the sponge with fabric softener hack for 22 years now. I used to sell Tupperware and this is another use we demonstrated the pickle container for. Love it!!!
