You would give a better understanding, if you actually had some tough terrain.... good synopsis though.
-
good video, but an LSD does not brake the wheel with less resistance, while it spins it "churns" the heavy weight gear oil to create friction causing clutches inside the gearbox to turn the other wheel slower then the wheel of least resistance
-
was that the plase you tesed the tralihack
-
so my only questions is can I floor it on 4low? I know u can't go over a certain speed due to risk of damage but wt about rpm's?

For anyone who is curious, Engineering Explained is at Ladee Flats just outside of Estacada, OR. He is at the Rock Quarry which is about halfway up. Ladee Flats has a gravel trail going all the way to the top with many offroad trails ranging from easy to hard splitting off from it. if you are in the area I'd suggest taking it out, but if you want to attempt the offroad trails I'd suggest taking a rig with 4x4 or have a friend with a winch. Beware that if you don't purchase the OHV trail pass you can get ticketed, but the pass is like 12 dollars which is a much better deal than a 120 dollars for the ticket.

Why did you get the rpm to 1000 in the first test? Was it just for having better times or there were other reasons behind it?

it's Kermit the frog!

Great video! I'm in Oregon as well :-)

Cal in Australia here, love all ya videos, Q. what is the difference between the Tacoma and the Hilux, my current 2002 hilux shares the same engine with a Tacoma, or to be more precise, my hilux with the 3.4L V6 5VZ FE engine vs the Tacoma with the same engine
-
I tried auto LSD once and didn't come down for a week..
-
Where are you in Oregon?
-
Awesome video. Gives a noob a good explanation on 4wd, thanks
-
This doesn't explain a damn thing, certainly not the difference between 4hi and 4lo
-
this video makes me sad that I got the TRD Off road (2X) and didn't spring for the TRD Off road Sport....
-
that was neat, but kinda boring. all those situations 2wd was fine. try it again, but in deep snow, a GRASSY hill, or mud (not wet rocks) everything here besides maybe the hill my car could have easily done.

Go Ducks.

I know youre not supposed to use 4wd on pavement but if you switch your truck into 4hi and you turn sharp to the left or right its supposed to like skip along right? like it feels like its bogging down. I really hope I didnt just buy a lemon truck with useless 4wd since I live in a state which gets 8+ feet of snow every year

this guy sounds like David Schwimmer
-
why do all these guys that these video act like they know what there doing nothing but pencil pusher suits mommy boy still on the tit .You'll need to stick to your desk and key boards and leave the county stuff to us county boys . was a drivers ed teacher around we didnt all see or something

Great experimental video, I always wondered what were the differences!
What's the difference between 4Hi, 4Lo, and 2Hi? When should I use 4Lo? When should I use 4hi? How does a transfer case work? Do I need to be in neutral to shift into 4Lo? What are the steps necessary to shift into 4Lo? This video features the 2016 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport, with the various driving modes required. 4Hi, 4Lo, 2Hi, and an Auto LSD.
