Those old ringers are gorgeous, they only had a fraction of the horsepower of todays boats but were just as fast and just as capable of making a living, if boats were meant to be made of fibreglass they,d grow fibreglass trees!!

Prop walk, I have to moor Port side on my boat, it has a 2:1 reduction, so as is happening here as soon as you go astern she peels away from the wall instead of pulling her in.

The ring net boats from the Clyde could fill up and be ashore again in time for a nights sleep. We drifters would be straggling in many hours later with 20 cran while the ringers were landing a hundred cran. It was soul destroying for younger men but the older men would be slow to part from their traditional ways. I loved the drifting but the ring-net was more exciting and much more lucrative.

These type of fishing boat was the Backbone at one time for the English,Scottish,
and Irish fishing fleet,
Its nice to see that some are being preserved for other generations to see and enjoy. -
Steer before gear :)
Lovely old boats, great to see them surviving and being used. It's scary to see how little there is to stop anyone falling overboard though. -
beautyfull boats but they cant dock them for sh,,,t

I think these are Weatherhead of Cockenzie built ring net boats of about 40FT. I can mind that type of boat in Fisherrow harbour built from around 1935 to the late forties although these boats seem to have a lot more power than the old 66 Kelvins and him in the wheelhouse of the blue boat has to much power and no enough skill although he's maybe showing of to the visiters who don't know any better. Thank for the video.
