Read Richard's full review here: http://carsgui.de/1P6LKfR - - - - - - - - - - Ford's superstar car has officially arrived in Australia - yes it's the Mustang. This is the sixth generation of the iconic car which was first introduced to the world in 1964 and went on to become an icon thanks to its good looks, great performance and Hollywood. The new Mustang comes in two specifications – there's the EcoBoost which has a fuel efficient four-cylinder turbo engine and the GT which has a big burly V8. Both come with choice of manual gearbox or an automatic. There's also two body styles to choose from – a convertible or a Fastback. We drove the EcoBoost four cylinder recently – and we were pretty impressed. We had the chance to drive the EcoBoost again on this launch and found that the four cylinder turbo offered plenty of grunt, plus it sounds pretty tough too. Blasting through country back roads the Mustang in EcoBoost spec is every bit a performance car that's responsive and great to drive. But the car that will be the real star of the show and the big seller is the V8 powered GT and I'm in the fastback version right now. That V8 and the performance it delivers makes the GT the pick for me. And then there's the sound. The exhaust note from the V8 is glorious. The acceleration which goes with it – will make you grin. When you put foot down the front of the car actually raises up almost like you're in a speed boat – it's touches like that which make this car really special. Some muscle cars behave like savage dogs on a lead and you're never sure if they might turn around and bite you. Not this one the acceleration is really controllable, the steering is light and it's so easy drive. The both the V8 Fastback and it's convertible sibling have a comfortable ride and excellent handling. From a styling point of view the new car is every bit as sexy as the 1960s Mustang – there's those rear haunches, the long bonnet with shark nose grille, the taillights and iconic profile. This is a real Mustang – especially if it has a V8 under the bonnet. Australia is going to love the new Mustang, and it's important in that it will be Ford's only big performance car after they stop building the Falcon next year. If you want a Mustang you'll have to get in line though – it's so popular you'll have to wait a year. But it'll be worth the wait.
