I have both the 6.2 and 5.3 and other than extreme driving I can't tell much difference in the two engines. Back and forth to work in everyday conditions the 5.3 gets better gas mileage by about 3 or 4 mpg and power output seems very close, so close I almost regret getting the 6.2. I will probably trade the 6.2 in pretty soon. Other than something to brag about the bigger engine honestly is not needed.

It's a $2600 but you have to have he max trailer package, you can't upgrade without. So it's more like a $3/$4,000 option
-
it's not 2500 dls extra!!!! it's like 10k, most silverado come with the 5.3, and one more thing, my silverado 5.3 is faster than the one you use in the video

10.2 mpg!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i rather buy a ferrari or corvett why i want to spend 80k for a truck!!!!! only americans retards.

I bought a Denali with the 5.3. I was very hesitant at first because I really wanted the 6.2. So I drove all three including the duramax. Came down to this. My white tri coat Denali with the 5.3 with 2k on it for 49 or a Denali 6.2 for 64 or 67 for the duramax. Yup I have a little 5.3. Happy with it for the most part. Sufficient power and I can put 87 in it. 50 cents more for premium. I'd take a duramax over all but don't need it. I'd like the 6.2 but we already have a powerful suv.

I had a 2012 Silverado with the 5.3 and it was a dog. It was rated at 315 HP if I recall correctly but it couldn't get out of its' own way and the transmission sucked. I have a 2014 Titan Pro-4x now and that thing would drag the Silverado backwards with ease. There is no comparison in power even though the Titan is only rated with 2 more HP.

I'M IN THE MARKET FOR A NEW TRUCK . VERY HELPFUL REVIEW !

I bought a 2016 GMC Denali with a 5.3 for a spare truck. Turns out the spare truck is not so spare. Kind of beating myself having the 5.3 but I will say it does the job well. I can also say I've saved over $300 a month in gas bills which I have to watch what I spend. The 6.2 is premium gas is .50 a gal more than 87

also i didnt know that 5.3 silverados came with 8 speed
-
i have a 2016 6.2 4 wheel drive and on the highway i get over 21 mpg

So you run e85 in the silverado, and get 10.6 mpg, but you run 93 in the sierra and get 10.7 mpg. Why did you not run 93 in both? The only difference between the 3 common gas types is Octane rating, meaning it's the fuels ability "not to burn" meaning, the more compression the fuel can withstand before detonating (igniting). You would have seen better MPG in the 5.3 running 93, and also a small boost in performance all around. For having a 6.2 running 93 octane and only get 0.1 mpg better, it really isn't worth 2500+ more than the 5.3l. Maybe after you figured out how much fuel you used compared to the 5.3, then divide that across the $2500 price tag extra that you paid, the amount of fill ups, say 50ish, then it would pay itself off.

Leaving the cruise control on does not allow for the best mileage. The vehicle will use the throttle to compensate on uphills. More throttle = more fuel.

This was not a fair test they have different motors

( http://www.TFLtruck.com ) 2016 Chevy Silverado 5.3L vs GMC Sierra 6.2 - What's the faster, more fuel efficient and better GM truck engine. Is it the 5.3 Liter V8 or the bigger brother 6.2L V8. In this TFLtruck mashup review we find out by towing with both trucks and of course we also have fun with a good old fashioned drag race.
