BMW looked very shaky in the track. great review though, hit the nail on the head!
-
what the hell did they talk about? That lexus is beatiful.
-
.3 seconds slower on the track and depending on the driver the ref is the way to go as it makes a much more reliable car v8 and sexier
-
targeting the m4? looks nothing like it much more well design and brand new while the m4 looks the same as every m series
-
Id go with the Lexus.Car reviews don't tend to take reliability & running costs into the equation; they can only review what it is given at that point in time. Hence, i don't believe this comparison does the RCF justice. At the end of day, the Lexus will last forever, and id wager the running costs are significantly less than the BMW.

I would like to know how much of that extra ten grand spent on the BMW is those carbon ceramic brakes that give a definitive stopping advantage. take those off and get the prices closer and see how they stack up.
-
Lexus hands down
-
Sorry BMW but nothing could top the amazing V8 M3, naturally aspirated is the way to go
-
M4 definitely had a higher track speed but as they said, the tail happy over-steer killed the time
-
M4 is all hype. Just drove it yesterday. Felt too heavy and didn't nearly feel as much torque as say a Camaro ss. Nice interior but the rcf is better. Sound is decent. Overall 6.5/10 imo

The RC F's handling performance is a step back from the IS F. MT has confirmed the arrival of the upcoming IS F, but it seems like a fairytale.
-
How many watching this know that Lexus was forced to add an other 100 kilos to the vehicle to simply meet the safety regulations and as a result lost many of the planned character the vehicle was supposed to have
-
Why wasn't this M4 tested against the Camaro?
-
This was such an unfair comparison. The M4 carried $13,000 more in options than the RC F, not to mention the DCT and the carbon-ceramic brakes. In other words, the Lexus would've won on track if not for this discrepancy.
-
Price as tested and the m4 is 13k more than the rcf??!!

"This RCF model has a torque vectoring differential". Well that's a little misleading, because that diff is an option, and is designed to keep less skilled drivers out of the trouble one can get into with 467hp. My 2016 RCF has the standard Torsen diff, and will oversteer more easily if that's what you want to do. I can listen to my NA V8 sing all day, (even sweeter with the Apexi cat back) and don't give a damn that the super stiff chassis weighs 400 lbs more than an M4. Suspension can be tuned, but honestly, unless your on the track a lot, you could easily to more harm than good for street use, as it is very well balanced out of the box. Pobst is right on, but this isn't a track car for me (auto for track car?), and will take a fraction of the depreciation that a BMW will. The Ultrasonic Blue Mica II is just stunning in sunlight, and the car gets lots of attention, if that matters. It won't see much of the dealer, since I can do my own oil changes and clear the maintenance minder without proprietary software. Remember, this test is on the 1st year RCF. Downside: that mechanical music drives the foot, and that gets you into license threatening territory very quickly. :)

if only rcf was couple hundred pounds lighter.
-
The rc-f is the racecar you would buy your mother.
-
I wonder where the this gen IS-F is? There's a GS-F and an RC-F but nothing from the IS line.
-
i test drove the rcf and it will be my next car. i also checked out the M4 and the M4 to me just seems like a boy racer and the RCF as the mature gentleman. Has punch but doesn't need to brag about it. The m4 little boy that has to prove the world that he is right. yes the M4 is faster but the person buying the RCF isn't buying it to claim the world record for speed. I personally like the fact that you don't see that many RCF's around. every turn i turn i see a M4 or M3. I also like naturally aspirated engines and the sounds from the RCF is like no other. All these youtube reviewers keep comparing this car to the M4. Lexus never said that this would be their M4 killer. They said "this is a lexus that you can take to the track" unlike their other cars.
The RCF reminds me of when i had the chance to have a aston martin db9 for a weekend. Its a car that when you are in it you will feel like you are in something very special and exotic.
The RCF is what it is. its a special lexus that will deliver some fun to the average driver that doesn't need to try and end his life on his daily commute to work or weekend leisure trips.
I can't wait to put mine in the drive way.
This week on Head 2 Head presented by Tire Rack (http://www.tirerack.com), Carlos Lago pits two rear-drive luxury coupes - the 2015 BMW M4 and the 2015 Lexus RC-F - against each other in a battle for tire-smoking glory. Also, we find out which one is faster and more fun to drive by visiting the instrumented test track, the winding road course at Hyundai’s Proving Ground, and Streets of Willow racetrack with pro driver Randy Pobst. Has Lexus built a sports coupe with performance on par with BMW's M Division? We can't wait to find out.
