Hurricane Odile on Sept.14-15, 2014 decimated the fleet anchored in La Paz Bay, killing three beloved cruisers. Alan and I were in Marina de La Paz and, thanks to a sturdy marina, extensive preparation, vigilance during the storm, and luck, sustained no damage from that terrifying night. The following week we helped in the effort to rescue and recover boats, equipment, and missing people, plus help provision others stranded on the beach in their boats. After 10 days, 11 of the 35 grounded boats had been re-floated. Alan helped in the rescues (see and hear him in the video) while I filmed and edited this video and worked in "command central". All told, the cruising community has put in a grueling but tireless volunteer effort during the nearly 2 weeks since this devastating storm. Please consider donating to help those whose "homes" have been lost or severely damaged, and in the continuing, expensive effort to again get their lives afloat.
