We live on a 45' trawler type boat. We have been on the water since 2010. We keep an office ashore so we have a legal address. We are mostly self taught but have Power Squadron training. We started boating in 2003 with a 6' dinghy. We then advanced up in sizes 10', 12' 21', 26, 36' & finally 45' today. We sold our home in 2010 and moved aboard our 36' boat we had at the time. There are just my wife and I on the boat. We have a pump out boat come by every 2 weeks to empty our waste water. We have shore power and shore water hooked to boat. We also have wired 50 MB interweb service and an HD DirecTV dish system for television. It costs $1000 a year for insurance. We pay $400 per month for dock. Boat maintenance is about $4000 per year because we actually take our home to other places in the summer time. It has twin Cummins Diesel engines and can go over 20 knots. It gets 1 mile per gallon on average.

I would love to live on a houseboat ON THE LAND. Then, if the land floods, the house would float.

I lived on a 40' sailboat for three years. Easily the most peaceful and beautiful place I ever lived.

I'm in the process of building a camper to live in full time but my first option would have been a houseboat on the Mississippi. Start in Minnesota and cruise to the gulf.

This has always been my dream, to live on a houseboat. I know I could find one cheap, even a fixer, but dont have a clue where I might put it. I have lived in the desert in so. Az. most of my life. I would leave here tomorrow if I had a partner to share my houseboat dream....
If you want to build your own houseboat, I found this book to be the best out there: Handmade Houseboats: Independent Living Afloat http://amzn.to/2aBbrHV ..................................................................................................... First of all, Merry Christmas to all you YouTubers watching. Second of all, years ago, I spent a very happy time living on an old boat on the Miami River with my brother. I have had other boats but not lived aboard my own boat since then. I have been thinking of getting a small houseboat I can keep on the water to use now and then. I miss being on the water. I did some research on small houseboats and decided to post a video showing all the different small and even tiny houseboat designs people have come up with over the years. if you enjoy small houseboats and living on the water I think you might like this video. I also have a pretty cool playlist of small houseboat videos on my channel. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL0Fl7dCpoux437ZOB1JpYlcHlhnSy52Sn Please note that many of the photos I used were not mine, and were to the best of my knowledge in creative commons and available to use. http://search.creativecommons.org/ If you own the copyright to any photo and do not want me to use it for 3 seconds in my video, send me the proof of ownership and I will be happy to black out the photo or if you prefer, I can provide attribution in the video description and also an active link to your website if it will help you out.
